Scheduling Time Off

You should always discuss your time off in advance with your manager. Once you have approval, you can enter in your time off in UKG UltiPro.

Company Holidays: Relias offers 9 standard holidays, 2 floating holidays, and 1 birthday holiday.

Floating Holidays: You can schedule 2 days during the year can be used adjacent to the above Relias holidays, for any religious holiday you observe or holiday of a country you are affiliated with.

Birthday Holiday: You have 1 birthday holiday that you may use within the same pay period as your birthday. If your birthday falls on a weekend or you have a prior work engagement, you can schedule your birthday holiday for another day!

Flexible PTO: At Relias, you do not accrue—or earn—paid time off. Instead, you have the flexibility to take time off when you need it, without worrying about how many hours you have available. Speak to your manager about the professional guidelines about the typical amount of PTO for your tenure here. (PTO & Sick Policy)

Sick PTO: Relias provides you up to 9 paid sick days per year in the event you or your child are sick. (PTO & Sick Policy)

Mental Health PTO: Take up to 3 days per calendar year for mental health purposes, to rest after a challenging stretch of work, or for simply taking time to do what makes you happy. Next-day notice allowed.

Volunteer Days: Relias offers you 2 volunteer days during the calendar year to show your Passion for our Mission in your community.

Applying for leave

  • Review full leave information and instructions on Sharepoint.
  • Contact HR if changes should be made to your benefits. If there is a Qualifying Life Event, you have up to 31 days to make changes from the event. Click here for further information on Qualifying Life Events.
  • Complete and return any necessary documents for your leave.
  • Keep HR informed on your anticipated return date.

Bereavement: As a regular, full-time employee with more than 3 months’ service you may take up to 20 days of paid bereavement leave due to the death of a member of your immediate family. Immediate family is defined as your children or spouse/domestic partner. Regular, full-time employees may take up to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave due to the death of an immediate family member not specified above, parent, sibling, parent-in-law, grandparent, etc. Paid time off will be prorated for part-time employees.

Employees may take up to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave following pregnancy loss prior to 24 weeks for themselves or their partner. In the event of pregnancy loss after 24 weeks, bereavement will be available for up to four (4) weeks and would run concurrently with Short-Term Disability, if applicable.

Following the death of others not specified above, employees are allowed a one (1) day absence. Additional time off will be considered on an individual basis as approved by the manager.

Should you have the need for bereavement leave, notify your manager as soon as possible.

Domestic Violence Leave: If you are a victim of domestic violence you are eligible for unpaid leave. You may request leave if you are involved in a judicial action, such as obtaining restraining orders, or appearing in court to obtain relief to ensure the health, safety, or for your welfare, or that of your child.

Relias will, to the extent allowed by law, maintain the confidentiality of you requesting leave under this provision. Please reach out to HR regarding this leave.

FMLA: A leave of absence may qualify under the Family & Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”) if the you have been employed by Relias for at least 12 months or have worked at least 1,250 hours in the 12 months immediately preceding the start of your leave.

FMLA is unpaid job protected leave for eligible employees for certain family and medical reasons. FMLA may run concurrently with approved, paid disability leave. Learn more about FMLA – Your Employee Rights Under the Family and Medical Leave Act, and FMLA Fact Sheet #28.

Jury Duty: The Company will allow you to serve on jury duty or respond to a summons for witness duty. If you are called to serve on jury duty, you should notify your supervisor immediately. You will be paid while on jury duty for up to 2 weeks in the calendar year. If you are asked to serve for more than 2 weeks, please discuss with HR.

A copy of the jury summons must be turned in to your supervisor. If you are dismissed early by the court, you are expected to return to work for the balance of the working day, if practical.

Medical Leave: See Short Term & FMLA

Military Leave: Relias complies with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). If you wish to serve in the military and take military leave, you should contact HR ([email protected]) for information about your rights before and after your leave.

You are entitled to reinstatement upon completion of military service, provided you return or apply for reinstatement within the time allowed by law. Relias will pay up to 2 weeks of your base salary per calendar year for required annual training for the U.S. military. If your orders are beyond 2 weeks, Relias will provide gap pay for up to 4 weeks. When possible, you should notify your manager and HR in writing in advance of your leave and include a copy of your orders. All pay statements received while on leave must be provided to HR within 90 days of returning to work for gap pay to be processed on the following pay date.

Leave extending beyond 6 weeks may be unpaid.

Parental Leave: If you are a benefits eligible employee and have been employed for at least 12 consecutive months, you are eligible for paid time off for the birth or adoption of a child. This policy runs concurrently with FMLA and short-term disability when applicable. Employees, access the most up-to-date company policies on Relias’s internal SharePoint Site

Primary Parents

  • Eligible for up to 10 consecutive weeks of parental leave
  • Short-term disability must be exhausted before parental leave can begin

 

Non-primary Parents

  • Eligible for up to 10 consecutive weeks of parental leave

 

Adoptive Parents

  • Primary caregiver is eligible for up to 10 consecutive weeks
  • Non-primary caregiver is eligible for up to 10 consecutive weeks
  • If you are adopting a child, reach out to HR

 

The fact that a multiple birth or multiple child adoption occurs (e.g. the birth of twins or adoption of siblings) does not increase the eight-week total amount of parental leave granted for that event.

Parental leave must be taken during the first 3 months after birth or adoption, must be taken in 1 continuous period of leave.

Personal Leave: The Company may grant a personal leave of absence to employees having important personal reasons for being absent that do not qualify under other Company leave programs. Personal leave is unpaid and without the benefit of job protection during the leave. Contact your supervisor and HR regarding your leave. Benefits While on Leave

While on a leave, you may maintain your current benefits provided you continue to pay the employee contributions in a timely manner or as agreed upon. Relias reserves the right to recover premiums we paid to maintain coverage if you fail to return from your leave.
