Making Changes to Your Benefits
Use your benefits in every life stage
The benefits you select as a new hire or during Open Enrollment are effective through the end of the calendar year. Your only other opportunity to make changes to your benefits is when you have a qualifying life event, such as:
- Getting married, divorced, or legally separated.
- Having/adopting a child.
- Changes in a spouse’s employment status.
- Death of a spouse or a child.
- A child reaching age 26.
- A court order that requires a change related to a dependent child.
- You enroll in Medicare, Medicaid, or insurance through a Marketplace/Exchange.
If your change is due to the birth or adoption of a dependent child, your change will go into effect on the date of that event. All other qualified life events will go into effect on either the date your paperwork is received by HR or the date of the qualified life event, whichever date is later.
Do you fall under one of the above events? Reach out to HR within 31 days of the event to update your benefits!
